What’s been happening in the Studio?

Fall is here, and to me it always feels like a fresh start. The lazy, disorganized, hot days of summer are behind us and frankly by Labour Day I’m ready to move away from all of that.

Fall finds most of us recharged and ready to start in on new projects or at the very least, settle back into healthier routines and habits. As an artist that means more dedicated time to refresh the art supply cupboard, formulate ideas, try out new things and get painting.

At the moment I have a number of artistic irons in the fire. Paintings are out on loan at library and hospital exhibits. From mid-November through early January I’ll take part in a 12x12 group show at a small but completely loveable gallery/shop in a neighbouring town. In early spring next year I will have my first ever solo show (at the same aforementioned gallery/shop). And then, before I know it, it’ll be time to get organized for a June studio tour.

Meanwhile, I fully realize that in order to be creative inside I have to remain active and open to inspiration outside. Crunching through the leaves on the forest trail with my dogs is just the ticket at this time of year. This little 10x10, still being worked on, reflects the feeling.

Happy Fall indeed!
