What’s been happening in the Studio?

Spending time in my art room is a goal each day, but like in so many things, the idea doesn’t always go to plan. As artists everywhere will tell you, you cannot schedule creativity. Some days it happens, some days it doesn’t. It’s (finally) springtime now and as is the case every year at this time my creative side becomes more focussed to the gardens outside than to the bare panels and canvasses inside. My yearly art break. It’s actually quite restorative.

Here’s what’s most currently on the easel. Recently, I had the opportunity to take part in a one-day workshop with well known and highly regarded Toronto artist, Steve Rose. The study was around the work of Richard Diebenkorn. This painting has nothing whatsoever to do with that artist, however, I found that the inspiration of the workshop and the guidance from Steve meant I was able to make great progress on this piece, which is part of my Block Party series. Now, where did I put my trowel?
